Meet Laura Maria Hernandez Cuervo - 10th Batch, Colombia
Laura is the 10th Batch DTM student from Colombia. It was a long way around to come to DTM for Laura. Laura took 6 years to get to DTM since she did not have any sports-related experiences before. Luckily, she got the chance to be the DTM student through a colleague. So far, her favorite part of DTM is that she started to see sport in many different ways, not only how they do it but also about the philosophy and sociology of the sport. Laura said, “It’s a huge change for me. Not like in Colombia, I got the chance to go around the place and check the facilities related to sports.” Nevertheless, Laura said that the most interesting part is meeting people from different backgrounds, which made her feel they were all together through sport.
Which DTM Extra-curricular Field Trip was your favorite and what are your take-aways from the trip?
We had participated in a break-dancing World Dance event which was a really good experience for me. We got to hang out with the players. The break-dancing is a new and strange discipline in the next Olympic games. The most memorable part was that we actually had a chance to see the players and participate in the discipline with them. The take-away from the field trip would be the fact that I could experience how they import or adapt the big discipline and knowledge in this type of event. Also, through the field trip, we could analyze how they qualify people, which was very important.
Will you introduce us about your Korean Language Class?
I came to Korea with previous knowledge. While taking the Korean language class, I enjoyed the pronunciation of Korean. As the weeks went by, I became more confident in assignments and role-plays with laughs and enjoyment about what we were new to.
