Meet Jean Paul Enrique Chero Huamani - 9th Batch, Peru
“Most interesting part of DTM is networking and experiencing people from different countries, different cultures, and also a network of contacts around the world. I believe my network has increased throughout the program.” Jean gave a big applause as he spoke about the feelings on the DTM program. He picked out the class ‘Sport Journalism’ as his favorite. Although he never had a journalism course before, the class was very useful. Through the course, Professor Alan Abrahmanson made him think in a different way about ‘Communication’. In the end, he discovered some writing skills that he had never imagined before taking the course. Additionally, he showed his ambition after graduation from DTM. First, he will be gaining more experience about how the sport system works in the sport industry from different countries. The second is going back to Peru, and based on what he learned, he will put it into practice. He will promote other sports including football. Third, he is planning to write an academic paper, based on DTM Thesis; customer satisfaction in sports leagues, facilities, competition, and food.
Which DTM Extra-curricular Field Trip was your favorite and what are your take-aways from the trip?
The Ice Hockey experience in Anyang Halla’ was unforgettable. Through the experience, I learned a new sport that was not common in Latin American countries. It made me more interested in learning and experiencing new sports. Moreover, DTM invited Coach Mr. Baek for the Special Lecture on Leadership. It really encouraged me a lot since then, and it is still being a great motivation for me.
How’s the sport industry different from your country?
In Peru, we focus mostly on football. It is the most practiced sport which makes more revenue. At the same time, we have a sport-for-development approach too. It is about the promotion of sports rather than emphasizing the elite-sports-training and performance development.
